Richard F. Hokenson is the founder of the independent consulting firm, Hokenson & Company, where he specializes in the analysis and forecasting of global demographic trends and their associated economic, industry, and investment implications. In this role, he has served as senior managing director of global demographics for Evercore ISI and has been affiliated with the Gerson Lehrman Group and the CLSA (Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia) University Program. Previously, Mr. Hokenson served as the director of the Global Demographics Project at Credit Suisse First Boston, as the chief economist at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and as senior economist at Merrill Lynch Economics and at Data Resources Inc. He is a member of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population and a trustee of the Population Reference Bureau, where he is also a member of the executive committee and chair of the investment committee. Mr. Hokenson is also a member of the Society of Labor Economists, the Population Association of America, and the American Economic Association. His writings have appeared in such publications as the Municipal Finance Journal, the Global Guide to Investing, and the China Economic Quarterly, among others. Mr. Hokenson holds an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of California at Berkley and an MA in economics from the University of Michigan. He did his PhD research at New York University.
